What the math IQ test measures
This test measures numerical reasoning, which is the ability to see the structure inside quantitative information and act on it quickly. That is a different thing from mathematical knowledge. None of the 15 items needs algebra, geometry proofs, or anything past secondary-school arithmetic; what they need is the habit of noticing that 4, 9, 16, 25 are squares, that a discount then a tax is two multiplications not one, or that "three times as many" defines a ratio you can scale.
The item types are the ones psychometricians rely on because they load heavily on general reasoning: number and letter sequences, where you infer the rule that generates the series; proportional reasoning with percentages, ratios, and rates; averages and their reversal, where you are given the mean and must find a missing value; and short multi-step word problems that hide two or three operations inside plain language. Number-series items in particular are among the strongest single predictors of overall IQ, which is why almost every aptitude battery includes them.
Because the test is untimed, it isolates whether you can find the path to the answer. Speed, which is what employment tests add, is a separate skill layered on top and is best trained only once the untimed accuracy is solid.
How to read your result
Scores are banded by the share of 15 items correct. Developing (below about 40 percent) usually means a few specific formats are unfamiliar rather than that arithmetic is weak, and percentages, ratios, and the reversed-average items are the common sticking points. Working through the explanations for those types tends to move the score noticeably on a retake.
Average (about 40 to 66 percent) means you handle the direct sequences and single-step percentage problems and lose ground on the multi-step word problems. Strong (about 67 to 86 percent) means you are carrying two or three operations through a problem without dropping one and reading proportional relationships quickly. Excellent (about 87 percent and up) means you cleared the hardest sequences and the compound word problems, the level associated with strong performance on quantitative sections of graduate and professional aptitude tests.
If sequences came easily but word problems did not, the gap is about translating language into arithmetic, which is a distinct and very learnable sub-skill.
How this differs from the other tests on IQPF
The full 30-question IQ test includes a number strand, but only a few items. This test takes that strand and extends it, more items, more proportional-reasoning types, and a difficulty curve that runs into compound problems. Use the full test for a broad profile; use this one when numerical reasoning is what you want to measure or drill for an upcoming aptitude test.
Against the logical reasoning test, the difference is calculation versus validity: here the answer is a number you compute, there it is the conclusion the premises force. Against the Raven's Matrices practice, both are rule-finding from examples, but Raven's uses abstract shapes and this uses quantities, and people are often stronger at one medium than the other. A solid score here alongside a weaker Raven's score, or the reverse, is a normal and meaningful split.

Can I use a calculator or paper?+
The test is designed to be done in your head or with rough jottings, and that is how it best reflects numerical reasoning. If you reach for a calculator on every item you are measuring your typing, not your feel for number. Paper for a quick working is fine.
I am good at maths but scored average. Why?+
School maths rewards knowing procedures. This test rewards spotting the structure of a problem fast, seeing that a sequence is built from squares, or that a word problem is really a ratio. Those are trainable through practice with the formats, and a mismatch between the two is common.
